🔔 Overview
Push notifications in the Inspect Point iOS app help technicians stay informed about changes to their scheduled work, new building notes, and inspections sent back for corrections.
Once push notifications are enabled for your company, technicians can allow notifications on their iPhone or iPad and customize which types of alerts they receive directly in the Inspect Point app.
This article walks through how to enable push notifications, manage notification preferences, and troubleshoot common issues.
✅ Requirements
Before enabling push notifications, the following requirements must be met:
- Feature Enablement: Push notifications must first be enabled for your company by Inspect Point. Contact your Customer Success Manager or Inspect Point Support at support@inspectpoint.com to request access.
- App Version: Technicians must be on version 10.8.6 or later of the Inspect Point iOS app.
- Device Permissions: Notifications must be allowed for Inspect Point in the device's iOS settings.
- Signed In: Technicians must be signed in to the Inspect Point app to receive notifications.
📲 Enabling Push Notifications
Once push notifications are enabled for your company, technicians will be prompted to allow notifications when signing in to, or opening, the Inspect Point iOS app.
Option 1: Enable Notifications in the Inspect Point App
- Open the Inspect Point iOS app and sign in.
- When the Turn on Push Notifications prompt appears, tap Turn On.
- When prompted by your device, tap Allow to give Inspect Point permission to send notifications.
Once permission is granted, push notifications are enabled on your device.
Option 2: Enable Notifications Through Your Device Settings
If you previously selected Not Now or Don't Allow, you can enable notifications at any time through your device's settings.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Navigate to Apps → Inspect Point → Notifications.
- Turn on Allow Notifications.
Once enabled, Inspect Point can send push notifications to your device based on your notification preferences.
⚙️ Managing Push Notification Preferences
After enabling notifications on your device, you can customize which types of push notifications you receive directly in the Inspect Point app. By default, all available notification types are turned on.
To manage your preferences:
- Open the Inspect Point iOS app.
- Tap your initials in the bottom-right corner to open your profile menu.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Push Notifications.
- Use the toggles to enable or disable the notification types you want to receive.
Notification preferences are organized under General and Inspection Assistant, depending on the features enabled for your company.
Changes to your preferences take effect immediately once your selections are saved.
Important: Turning off an individual notification type only disables that specific alert. It does not change the notification permissions configured in your device's iOS settings.
Your company may also control which notification types are available. If a notification type has been disabled at the company level, you will not be able to enable it through your individual app settings.
For more information about the different notification types and when they are sent, see Types of Push Notifications in the Inspect Point iOS App.
