Learn how to use and configure the Tera-Digital 8100 scanner with Inspect Point on your iOS device in this article.
Scanner Configuration
Connect via Bluetooth HID
Before you start, ensure your scanner is connected to your device via Bluetooth HID Pairing. The instructions are available on page 4 of the user manual. Additionally, we have included those instructions and scan codes for your convenience below:
Optional - Set up a Line Feed Terminator
Optionally, you can configure your scanner to append a horizontal tab to the scan so it will automatically exit input boxes and move to the next one. This can be found on Page 10 of the User manual.
Configure Show/Hide Keyboard
The scanner is set up to function like a keyboard by default, which can be inconvenient when switching between typing and scanning. This feature enables a double-trigger option to disable keyboard mode, allowing technicians to switch between scanning and typing without affecting their work or easily show/hide the keyboard.
Scanning in Inspect Point
Now you're ready to go; you just need to set up the Inspect Point application by going into settings, found in the bottom left of your app, and enable generic scanning and the Line Feed. This will streamline auto submission when scanning.
Enable Generic Scanning in Inspect Point
Your scanner is now configured and ready to use. It functions like a keyboard and will replicate the content of any serial number/QR code in the text area. Inspect Point now supports generic scanners as of version 8.2.2 (4/29/2022), expanding the scan-based searching feature. This means that wherever you see a scan icon for camera-based scanning, you can also utilize your 8100 scanner to efficiently navigate to the device you want to inspect. The system will auto-submit it to you after the scan is complete.
