Creating an inspection in the field allows technicians to quickly add new jobs directly from the mobile app without needing backend access. In this article, we’ll walk through the steps for creating an inspection in the field — including how to configure inspection assets and details — so technicians have everything they need to start creating inspections in the field.
⚠️ Important:
- These features must be enabled by a member of Inspect Point.
- Contact your Customer Success Manager to enable it.
- This setting applies to all technicians (it cannot be enabled per individual).
📋 Creating an Inspection
To create an inspection in the field:
- Create a New Job
- From the bottom-right corner of the app, tap the plus icon (+)
Select Create Inspection
Building Selection
You’ll see a list of existing buildings.
- Scroll through the list or use the search bar to find by name or address
Depending on your configuration, you may have the option to add a new building
Set Frequency
From the Frequency dropdown, select an inspection frequency (e.g., annual, quarterly).
- This selection determines which questions are included in the inspection
- This will default to Annual
- This cannot be changed once the inspection is saved
Set the Schedule Date
This determines when the job will appear on your schedule in the mobile app.
- This will default to the date and time the inspection is being created
- Include Building Valves
- This option may be checked or unchecked by default depending on your organization’s setup
If you are creating a Sprinkler inspection, ensure this box is checked so valves are include
- Select Assets to the Inspection
- Select the asset(s) and/or group(s) to include in this inspection
- Not sure what to include? You can skip this step for now and add items later once the inspection has started
After making your selections, tap Continue
Reviewing Existing Assets
This screen displays any existing assets already associated with the selected building based on the types selected in the previous step.
Review and confirm the items to include
Tap Complete
This will finalize and save the inspection
- You’ll now see your newly created inspection on the Schedule List, ready to begin.
When you start the inspection, any selected systems (e.g., Wet System, Fire Pump) and building valves will appear automatically.
