Overview
Fire extinguisher inspections are now easier than ever with the Inspect Point iOS mobile app with release of version 8.8.9. Follow these steps to efficiently document extinguisher details, track service history, and project future maintenance needs.
Changes on the iOS Mobile App
Easier Selection & Automatic Calculation
We’ve introduced a service plan & history table that automatically calculates the next service date based on the extinguisher type and the service performed. This means technicians no longer need to manually count or estimate the next service due date.
Service Performed Dropdown & Table
- The service performed dropdown and the corresponding table below are populated based on the selected extinguisher type.
- Only the 3/5/6/12-year service selections will update the next service due date.
- The initial next due estimates are based on the manufacture date.
- If the technician does not select a service performed, next service dates will not be added.
Manual Overrides & Undo
- Technicians can override the estimated date if needed.
- If a mistake is made, they can undo their selection by tapping the ↩️ button in the top left of the table.
Important Caveats
1. Auto Scan to Pass Limitations
- If using auto scan, the system will default to “Inspection” as the service performed.
- Since this option does not update any dates, users who wish to update service dates must manually select a service before saving.
2. Bulk Inspect Limitations
- The bulk inspect feature only allows selecting “Inspection” or “Unavailable”.
- If technicians need to add a specific service performed, they must manually update it after the bulk inspect process.
Selecting an Extinguisher and Entering Details
- Open the Fire Extinguisher screen.
- Choose the extinguisher type. This selection determines applicable service intervals.
- Fill out key details:
- Location – Identify where the extinguisher is placed.
- Date Manufactured (optional) – Used to project initial service due dates.
- Last Service Date – Input the most recent maintenance date.
- Next Service Date – This will auto-calculate based on service history.
- Notes & Internal Notes – Add any relevant observations.
Tracking Service Plan & History
- Scroll down to the Service Plan & History section.
- Here, you can:
- Review previously performed services.
- Check upcoming due dates.
- Manually adjust service records if needed.
Performing a Service and Auto-Populating Dates
- Tap on the Service Performed dropdown.
- Select the appropriate service type (e.g., 6-Year Maintenance, Hydro Test).
- The system will automatically:
- Set today’s date as the Last Performed date.
- Project the Next Due date based on standard service intervals.
- The 6-year “next due” will be calculated based on the 12-year hydro date. If there is NO next due 12-year hydro date entered, the next-due for the 6 year will not update after performing a 6 year service
- If there is no manufacture date associated with the extinguisher, you will need to manually add the next due OR last performed dates in order to have accurate projections (note these dates can also be added via extinguisher mass-edit)
