Users have the ability to add their own Extinguisher Types in the backend. These types will be editable on the iPad and will appear on the report. This article explains how to add these types and set service dates.
Note: Not all extinguishers use the same service dates. For example, some have 3-Year testing and some do not. Therefore, if you change the Type on an extinguisher to one with fewer service dates, the previous service date information will disappear from the inspection.
To begin, navigate to Settings -> Fire Extinguishers -> Fire Extinguisher Types.
Here, you will see the option to add a new type at the top of the screen.
After clicking this button, you'll be prompted to add the name of the new type, along with its appropriate service dates.
After entering in your information, click Save at the bottom of the screen and the new type will be created.
Once saved, this new type is ready to be used on inspections.
On the iPad, either open an inspection with this type already dispatched, or add a new extinguisher. Next, select the new type from the Type dropdown.
Here, we've selected the same Type (Test), and all the due dates appear as we entered them in the backend.
If we load a different type, it too will load the correct service dates set in the backend.
In the example above, we selected Type = 20lb ABC. On the backend, Has 3-year and Has 6-year are checked off. On the iPad, only these two service dates appear, confirming this type is working properly.
If you change these service date preferences in the backend, you'll need to refresh your iPad for the changes to load.
