Inspect Point allows you to import Smoke & CO devices into your instance. This article covers the step-by-step process to do so.
Note: We only support importing CSVs, but it is possible other formats may be added.
The process mimics the workflow for importing alarm systems, which you can learn about here.
Importing Smoke & CO Devices
To begin, navigate to your desired building and click the Alarm Systems tab on the Building Detail Page.
Here, you will see two tables - your Alarm Systems and your Smoke & CO devices. On the right side of the Smoke & CO table you will see the Import button.
Clicking this brings you to a screen where you can select your desired file for importing.
Once you’ve chosen your file, it will appear on the screen, and the Import CSV File button will become actionable. Click this new button to import your file.
After importing your file you will be brought back to the Building Detail page. Here, a green banner will be displayed at the top of the screen indicating your import was successful.
Continue importing files as needed.
Note: You must have at least one Smoke & CO device created for the Import feature to display. If no devices have been created, you will see this screen:
Edit the building to add a Smoke & CO device. Once added, it will be displayed on the Alarm System screen and be available for import.
Smoke & CO File Format
Attached below is a sample Smoke & CO CSV. Your devices must be entered in this format for them to import properly. There are two important notes on this format:
Device Type must be one of three values:
- Smoke Alarm
- CO
- Combo
Battery Type must be one of two values:
- Hard Wired
- Battery
The other two fields - Location and Installed Date - have no constraints.
