How to Import Alarm Devices
From the Building, click the Fire Alarm tab, then click Import next to the Fire Alarm System you'd like import the devices for
Click Choose File next to Import CSV File , and select the file
***Note: the file must be a csv, and you must use the template attached to this documentation***
***Note: Alarm Device type MUST match the Device Type listed in the backend of Inspect Point. It looks at spelling, case sensitivity, and spacing). ***
Click Import CSV File once the file is attached
You will be redirected back to the Building where you will see a green success bar at the top letting you know the devices have imported
Click on the Fire Alarm tab, then Devices, to see your devices now listed on the building
Understanding the Alarm Device Template
Listed below is our Alarm Device Template available for download, a breakdown of what each of the fields mean, and a sample template to see these fields in action.
Note: not every field is required for a successful import. No one field is required, but a more complete import will allow for more detailed inspections and reports.
Zone - Used only for conventional panels; the zone that the alarm device resides in
Loop - Also referred to as an SLC loop (signaling line circuit), this is only for addressable panels; the circuit in which all the devices are on
Node - Additional panels within the network; adds information to the overall system
Address - The address of the device that has been programmed into the panel
Location - The location in the building where your alarm device resides
Device Type - What type of device it is. Inspect Point provides dozens of options to choose from, including Abort Switches, Chimes, and Photo Detectors, to name a few
Section - Another filter option for location in building
Barcode - The barcode on your alarm device
Manufacturer - The manufacturer of your alarm device
Model - The model of your alarm device
Installed Date - The date when the alarm device was installed
Last Scanned At - The date at which the alarm device was last scanned
Last Tested At - The date at which the alarm device was last tested
Replacement Date - The date at which the alarm device needs to be replaced
