In this article, you'll learn how to mass edit your existing fire alarm device list. This is the only method to mass update alarm device lists that have more than 500 devices. However, this method can also be used for smaller device lists as well.
Step 1: Navigate to the building with the alarm system and devices you want to edit. Click on alarm devices.
Step 2: Click on the export button. This action will send a CSV file containing all your devices to your email address.
Step 3: Open the CSV file from your email.
Step 4: Pay attention to the device ID numbers. These unique identifiers must not be changed, deleted, or modified. If you delete or change these numbers, duplicate devices will be created or incorrect information will be assigned.
Step 5: When sorting or filtering columns in the spreadsheet, select the entire data set. Sorting a single column alone will cause data mismatches and misalignment of information across devices.
Step 6: Make the necessary changes to the export file.
Step 7: Add new devices if needed. Do not enter an ID number for new devices; the system will automatically assign one upon creation.
Step 8: Save your changes and return to your device list in the alarm system.
Step 9: Re-import the edited file by clicking Import devices.
Step 10: Check for any invalid rows. If everything was entered properly, click submit.
Step 11: Refresh the page to see the updated list and the changes you made.
That's it! You've successfully mass edited your existing device list.
