How to Create Inspections in the Backend

📋 Overview

Most inspections in Inspect Point are created in the web-based backend by office or admin staff. This is the standard workflow for scheduling upcoming inspections and building out recurring schedules.

Technicians can also create inspections in the field on the mobile app, but backend creation is where the majority of inspection setup happens.

What You Can Do:

• Create a single inspection from a building record or from the Inspections page.
• Create a recurring schedule by setting the inspection to repeat as an Inspection Series.

🏢 Create an Inspection from the Building

This is the most common path, and the one to use when you already know which property the inspection is for.

1. Go to Buildings in the left-side navigation.
2. Click the building you want.
3. Open the Inspections tab.
4. Click New inspection in the upper right.
5. Inspect Point will ask "Is this a one time inspection or does it repeat?" Click One Time for a single inspection, or Repeat to build a recurring Inspection Series.
6. Fill in the inspection details — technician, inspection items, technician instructions, and any optional reference fields.
7. Click Save.

🗂️ Create an Inspection from the Inspections Page

Use this path when you are working from the inspection listing rather than from a specific building.

1. Go to Inspections in the left-side navigation.
2. Click ⊕ New Inspection at the top of the page.
3. Select the building.
4. Click One Time.
5. Fill in the inspection details.
6. Click Save.

🔁 Creating a Recurring Inspection

If the inspection repeats on a set frequency — monthly, quarterly, annual, and so on — create an Inspection Series rather than a single inspection. Inspect Point will then generate the individual inspections automatically, dated according to the schedule you set.

When Inspect Point asks "Is this a one time inspection or does it repeat?", click Repeat. You can also start a series directly from Building → Inspection Series tab → New Inspection Series.
