Proposal Settings — Default behaviors that apply to every proposal you create. These settings control how proposals behave and what they show by default. This helps to standardize the proposal and control what details your customers see when they receive a proposal.
How to Access Proposal Settings
- From the backend, select the Settings tab from the navigation bar.
- Select Proposal Settings under the Proposals section.
- Review and update your defaults and options as needed.
What are the Proposal Settings
General
- Default Proposal Summary - Appears as the default on each proposal.
- Default Proposal Scope of Work - Appears as the default on each proposal.
- Proposal Email Template - This is the email message your customer sees when they receive the proposal sent through Inspect Point.
- {{proposal_link}} inserts the proposal link to the email, the customer is then able to accept or decline the proposal. We don't recommend removing this from the email.
- {{proposal_for_text}} personalizes the email with the recipient’s name.
- {{user_name}} & {{user_title}} pulls from the backend user who created the proposal.
- Click Reset to Default anytime to go back to Inspect Point’s default email text.
NOTE - You can also create additional summaries and scopes outside of these defaults. When you create a new proposal, you’ll be able to select from these saved options using a dropdown menu, as well as a free-form text field, giving flexibility to choose the right details for each quote.
Options
Use these toggles to control how your proposals work behind the scenes:
- Require Note on Accept — Customers must leave a note when they approve a proposal.
- Enable Profit Margin by Default — Shows profit margin details to your internal users only when building proposals. Customers do not see profit margin information.
- Enable Editing of Accepted Proposals — Allows office staff to make changes to a proposal even after it has been accepted by the customer.
Display Options
These settings control what details your customer will see on the proposal PDF or web link.
- Show Quantity — Displays the number of units for each item.
- Show Unit Price — Shows the price per unit.
- Show Line Item Total — Shows the total amount for each line item.
Important: These are your default display settings, but you can adjust them on each individual proposal if needed.
