Grouping on Proposals

Inspect Point allows users to group Materials & Services together into groups on proposals. This can be done for both Materials & Service and Line Items. By using proposal groups, proposals no longer need to display dozens of items; a few groups can condense materials & services into a concise proposal for the customer. This article outlines how to create these groups.

Adding a Group

To create a group, create a new proposal or edit an existing one. From the Fee Summary screen in the proposal builder you will see a grouping icon on the right side of each Material & Service and/or Line Item. Additionally you will see a Group Selected button on the left side of the screen. Either of these options allows you to create a group.

To add a single item to a group, click the grouping button on the right of the screen. Next you will be prompted to enter a group name. After choosing a name, click Create New Group, and the group will be saved.

With the group created, we now see it appear as a Summary Line Item on the proposal. Additionally, we can see the service belongs to a group because the group icon is now highlighted.

For subsequent Materials & Services and Line Items, all existing groups will appear in the dropdown, or you can add new ones. There is no limit to how many groups can be on a proposal.

Furthermore, you can remove an item from a group through the same icon and clicking Remove From Group.

You can also add multiple items at once to a group by using the Group Selected button. First, select all the items you wish to add to the group, then click Group Selected. The same dropdown will appear asking you either to add to an existing group or create a new one.

To re-position either a group, Material & Service, or Line Item, click and drag the six dots next to each item. This will change the order the group or item is displayed on the proposal.

Once items are grouped together, they will no longer appear individually on the proposal. Instead, only the summary line items will appear. As summary line items, the groups' price will be the total of each individual item within the group.

Any items not belonging to a group will display normally as Materials & Services or Line Items.
