Default Technician Notes are designed to save time in the field by giving your techs quick, reusable note options — no more typing the same thing over and over. These notes can be used when adding:
- A deficiency note
- A regular inspection question note in the mobile app
Techs will still be able to type in their own notes as needed, but default notes make the process faster and more consistent.
📲 How They Work in the Mobile App
- Default Tech Notes created in the backend will appear in the mobile app for technicians.
- Technicians can choose from these defaults or add their own.
- Important: Techs must log out and log back in to the mobile app after any new notes are added, edited, or deleted in order to see the updated options.
⚙️ Managing Default Technician Notes in the Backend
From the backend:
- Go to Settings → Inspections → Default Tech Notes
- You’ll see a list of existing notes and a toggle option to allow technicians to create their own default notes directly in the field
➕ To Create a New Default Note
- Click + New Technician Note
Fill in the fields below:
Category (optional) - Use this to group notes by system or inspection area — for example, a category like "Fire Alarm" ensures the note only appears when techs are working on related items.
Type - Choose where the note can be used:
- Note – visible on the inspection report
- Internal Note – visible only to backend users and techs
- Both – lets techs use the note in either spot
Note - Add the default note text here.
- Click Save - You’ll be redirected back to the Default Tech Notes list.
✏️ To Edit or Delete a Note
- Edit: Click the yellow pencil icon next to the note
- Delete: Click the red trash can icon next to the note
🔄 Reminder: After any changes, techs must log out and back into the mobile app to see updates.
