📆 Overview
In the header of each inspection report, you will see the Inspection Date.
By default, the report displays the date the technician last submitted the inspection. This may reflect the actual completion date, but in some cases—such as when an inspection is resubmitted and the report is regenerated—the date shown will be the most recent submission date.
Within the Report Settings, you can control the Inspection Date Source. This setting allows you to choose which date appears as the official inspection date on your reports.
This guide covers the available options, how to configure the setting, and best practices for selecting the appropriate date source.
đź’ˇ Why This Matters
In many workflows, inspections are completed in the field but not submitted until later. This means the default inspection date may not always reflect the actual service date.
Example: A technician completes an inspection on Monday but the inspection is not submitted until Friday. The report will display Friday's date by default.Â
For teams managing a high volume of inspections, manually correcting these dates on individual reports can be time-consuming, prone to error, or missed entirely.Â
This setting allows you to define a consistent, system-wide approach, eliminating the need to update each report manually.
Benefits:
- Reduces manual report edits
- Ensures consistency across all reports
- Improves accuracy of inspection records
- Saves time for teams managing large inspection volumes
⚙️ Available Options
You can choose which date appears on reports:
- Submission Date (Default) - Uses the date the technician submits the inspection. This is the current system behavior.
- Scheduled Visit Date - Uses the date the inspection was originally scheduled.
-
Last Visit End Date - Uses the final day of the inspection. This is especially useful for:
- Multi-day inspections
- Inspections completed by multiple technicians
