The Report Settings page in the backend allows you to configure how inspection reports are generated, displayed, and sent to customers. These settings help ensure that reports meet your company’s formatting, content, and delivery preferences.
🧾 Accessing Report Settings
You can access these options by navigating to:
Backend Settings > Inspections > Report Settings
⚙️ Sections in Report Settings

Control if and how the inspection summary appears in your reports. Options include:
Deficiency Photos: Exclude Prior Deficiency Photos – Remove photos of previously noted deficiencies from the current report.
Enable Inspection Summary – Add a high-level summary table to the report.
Print Deficiencies at Beginning of Report – List deficiencies before all other sections, previously listed at the end of the report.
Separate Suppression from Sprinkler Summary – Create distinct sections within the summary table for suppression and sprinkler system results.
English Inspection Summary – Customize the summary text.
✉️ Cover Letter
Add a cover letter to reports to provide a brief overview before the detailed results.
You can:
- Enable/disable the cover letter.
- Upload a Cover Letter Signature.
- Customize the text for:
- All-Pass Reports
- Reports with Deficiencies
🛠 Default Settings
Define the default behavior and appearance for all generated inspection reports, including:
- Automatically Generate Inspection Reports – Inspection reports will automatically generate upon submission from the field.
- Default Report Language – The default language will display on the report. If another language is enabled in your instance, you can override the language for a specific report on the corresponding inspection detail screen.
- Image Resolution Size – Larger image resolution sizes will result in much larger PDFs and slower report generation.
- Inspection Report Display Name – Inspection report display names appear on your Inspection Reports tab, as well as in the Customer Portal.
- Report Email Template – The email sent to your customers when a report is sent though Inspect Point.
- Report Date Format – Choose how the dates display on inspection reports.
- Inspection Date Source – Control which date is displayed on your inspection reports. This determines the “inspection date” shown to your customers.
💡Tips
Use email placeholders like
###{{ building_name }},###{{ report_link }}, and###{{ frequency }}to personalize report notifications.Higher image resolutions produce clearer images but increase PDF size and generation time.
