Inspect Point allows you to manage code year overrides at the building level for ULC 536 and 537 inspections.
This ensures each building reflects the correct code version during inspection and reporting — even when your company’s default settings differ.
🔥 Canadian ULC Fire Alarm Code Year Overrides
For Canadian customers, Inspect Point supports ULC Fire Alarm code year overrides at the building level — for both the main code year and the verification code year.
The available ULC years are: 2004, 2013, and 2019.
When your instance is created, one of these ULC code years is enabled and set as your default. Unless specified otherwise, the default year is 2019.
The global default applies to all inspections unless an override is set at the building level.
The building-level code override allows you to change the default code year for fire alarm inspections at a specific building.
⚙️ How It Works
- By default, your instance includes all ULC code years listed above, with one year being the default.
When a code override is set:
- All alarm inspections for that building will use the selected code year.
If no override is set, the global default applies.
🧭 How to Set the Override
- Navigate to the desired Building.
- Click Edit Building.
- Expand the Advanced menu.
- Under Code Overrides, choose from the following:
- Fire Alarms Code Year
- Fire Alarms Verification Code Year
- Click Save.
Going forward, all new fire alarm inspections for that building will use the selected code year’s inspection questions.
💡 Tips:
- Contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) if you'd like to change your global default code year.
- If you're unsure what default year you currently have, you can always edit a building, expand the Advanced menu, and you will see the default year under Code Overrides.
- You can click Reset to Default at any time to revert back to your instance default.
