NFPA 25 - Code Year Overrides at the Building Level

Inspect Point allows you to manage code year overrides at the building level for NFPA 25 Sprinkler inspections.

This ensures each building reflects the correct code version during inspection and reporting — even when your company’s default settings differ.

💧 NFPA 25 Sprinkler Code Year Override

Each instance can have multiple NFPA 25 Sprinkler code years enabled. We currently support the following code years: 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020, and 2023.

When your instance is created, one of the NFPA 25 code years is enabled and set as your default. The default year will be the latest available unless specified.

The global default applies to all inspections unless an override is set at the building level.

The building-level code override allows you to change the default code year for sprinkler inspections at a specific building.

⚙️ How It Works

• By default, your instance includes one NFPA 25 code year, typically the most recent edition.
• If you’ve changed code years in the past (for example, your instance started with 2011 and later switched to 2020), both 2011 and 2020 will be available for building-level overrides.
• If you need additional code years, contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to have them loaded.
• Once multiple years are available, you can override the code year per building as needed.

When a sprinkler code override is set:

• All sprinkler inspections for that building will use the selected code year.

• If no override is set, the global default applies.

🏗️ How to Set a Sprinkler Code Year Override

1. Navigate to the Building in the backend.
2. Click Edit Building.
3. Expand the Advanced menu.
4. In the Code Overrides section, choose the desired Sprinklers Code Year Override (NFPA).
   • You will only see the code years you have loaded in
5. Click Save.

Going forward, all new sprinkler inspections for that building will use the selected code year’s inspection questions.

💡 Tips: 

• Contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) if you need additional code years loaded in or you'd like to change your global default code year. 
• If you're unsure what default year you currently have, you can always edit a building, expand the Advanced menu, and you will see the default year under Code Overrides. 
• You can click Reset to Default at any time to revert back to your instance default.
