🔍 Overview
The IPA Knowledge Base allows your organization to provide your Inspect Point Assistant with company-specific information, such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), internal policies, terminology, and operational guidelines.
Once documents are added to the IPA Knowledge Base, Inspect Point Assistant can use that information to answer questions and help users follow company-specific processes. This allows responses to be based not only on general knowledge and Inspect Point data, but also on the procedures unique to your organization.
In addition to answering questions, Inspect Point Assistant can identify operational rules contained within uploaded documents and use those rules when performing applicable actions.
⚙️ How It Works
The IPA Knowledge Base is made up of two components:
📄 Documents
Documents are the source material that the Inspect Point Assistant uses when answering company-specific questions.
Examples include:
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Internal policies
- Process documentation
- Team guidelines
- Operational instructions
When a document is uploaded, Inspect Point Assistant analyzes the content and makes it available as a reference when answering future questions.
📋 Rules
Rules are operational instructions that Inspect Point Assistant can apply automatically during applicable actions.
Rules may be:
- Extracted from uploaded documents
- Created manually by an administrator
For example, if your company requires all new buildings to be assigned to a specific territory or reviewed by a particular team, those requirements can be stored as rules and applied consistently.
✨ What You Can Do
With the IPA Knowledge Base, you can:
- Upload company documentation for Inspect Point Assistant to reference
- Ask questions about company-specific procedures and policies
- Receive answers based on your organization's documentation
- Manage uploaded documents from a centralized location
- Review and maintain operational rules
- Add company-specific rules directly within Settings
- Ensure organizational processes are applied consistently
📁 Supported File Types
At launch, the IPA Knowledge Base supports:
.txt.md
Other file types, including PDF and Word documents, are not currently supported.
👥 Access and Availability
IPA Knowledge Base functionality is currently available to office users with Inspect Point Assistant access.
Technician access through the mobile application is not currently supported.
🔄 Documents vs. Rules
Understanding the difference between documents and rules is important.
Documents provide information that Inspect Point Assistant can reference when answering questions.
Rules provide instructions that Inspect Point Assistant can apply when performing actions.
Uploading a document may result in both:
- Additional knowledge for answering questions
- New operational rules that can be reviewed and managed by administrators
Because documents and rules are managed separately, deleting a document does not automatically remove any rules that were previously extracted from it.
🚀 Getting Started
