Overview
If enabled, the Customer Portal allows you to share inspection deficiencies from published inspection reports with your customers in a dedicated Deficiencies view within the portal. This gives them visibility into issues identified at their buildings, including both resolved and unresolved deficiencies.
Deficiency visibility in the Customer Portal is controlled by an internal admin flag and must be enabled by a member of the Inspect Point team.
If you're interested in using this functionality, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
๐๏ธ How Deficiency Visibility Works
Deficiencies will only appear in the Customer Portal when all of the following conditions are met:
- The deficiency is tied to an inspection with a published report
- The contact is associated with the building
- The contact has permission to view inspection reportsย
This ensures that only approved, customer-facing data is exposed in the portal.
๐ Overview: Publishing to the Customer Portal
๐ Where Your Customers See Deficiencies
Once enabled and properly configured, your customers can view deficiencies in two places within the portal:
1. Deficiencies Tab (Portal Home)
The main Deficiencies tab displays:
- Unresolved deficiencies only
- Issues that are currently active and may require attention
This view helps customers quickly view unresolved deficiencies across their buildings.
2. Building-Level Deficiencies Tab
Within a specific building, customers can navigate to the Deficiencies tab to view:
- Both resolved and unresolved deficiencies
- Historical context for issues tied to that building
๐ Access & Visibility Rules
The Customer Portal strictly enforces visibility rules:
- Only deficiencies tied to published reports are shown
- Customers only see deficiencies for buildings they are associated with
- If a contact does not have permission to view inspection reports, no deficiencies will be visible
๐งฉ Best Practices
To ensure your customers see the correct deficiency data:
- โ Mark reports as public when they should be shared to the portal
- โ Confirm contacts are associated with the correct buildings
- โ Ensure inspection report visibility permissions are enabled for the contact
