Overview
The Price Lists feature allows you to create any number of user-defined Price Rules to modify the standard price found in the Price Book by applying a Discount %, Markup %, or simply overriding the standard price with a different price.
This solution provides a great deal of flexibility in how you can price products and services for specific customers, geographic areas, or specific business cases where non-standard pricing is needed.
Feature Walk Thru
1. Configure Price Lists
When this feature is enabled, a “Default Price List” will be created that has no rules. This is used whenever you want to use the prices configured on the Price Book without modifying them. You can optionally create additional Price Lists that use Price Rules to modify the prices found in the Price Book.
2. Configuring a Price Rule
When configuring a Price Rule, you configure the following items:
- Rule Type
- Fixed Price - Overrides the Price Book price with a price entered on the rule
- Discount from Price - Reduces the Price by a user-defined percentage
- Markup from Price - Increases the Price by a user-defined percentage
- Rule Application
- Product - Applies the rule to a specific material or service
- Type - Applies the rule to the selected service or material “Type”
- Category - Applies to rule to the selected category “Service” or “Material”
- All Products - Applies the rule to all products/services in the Price Book
When the system searches for a matching rule, it starts at the lowest level, Product then moves up to “Type” then “Category” and finally “All products”. Once it finds a matching rule, it stops searching for additional matching rules, so only 1 rule will ever be applied.
3. Configuring Accounts and Buildings with a Price List
Each account will default to the “Default Price List” but can be overridden when creating or editing an account by selecting a price list from the drop-down menu.
Each building will default to either the “Default Price List” or whatever is configured on the parent Account (if applicable). This can be overridden when creating or editing a building by selecting a different price list from the drop-down menu.
4. Configuring Remaining Price Lists
Price lists for inspections, proposals, work orders, and invoices all default to whatever price list the corresponding building is set to, and all can be overridden.
You will see the Price List drop-down menu on each page where you see Materials & Services. To change the default, simply select the list needed from the menu.
