The Technician Portal is a web-based platform designed to help technicians view their schedule, manage jobs, track time, and generate inspection or work order reports—all in one convenient place.
⚠️ Access to the Technician Portal requires a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
📱How to Access the Technician Portal Through the Mobile App
There are two ways to access the Technician Portal from the mobile app:
Option 1: Via the Technician Icon
- Open the Inspect Point mobile app.
- Tap the Technician icon on the home screen.
- Select Time Sheet to open the portal in your browser.
Option 2: From the Schedule Screen
- Navigate to the Schedule screen.
- Tap List View in the top right corner.
Select Calendar View to open the portal via your device’s browser.

- Head to technicians.inspectpoint.com
- Log in with your technician credentials (subdomain, username, password)
📂 Navigating the Portal Menu
The left-hand menu can be expanded or collapsed. It includes options such as:
- 🛠 Create – Create jobs from the portal (to be completed in the mobile app).
- 🏢 Buildings – View and (with permission) create buildings.
- 📆 Calendar – View and manage your scheduled jobs.
- ⏱ Time Sheet – Log and track time for work completed.
🏢 Building List
From the Buildings tab, you can:
- Displays all existing buildings you have permission to view.
- Permissions may allow you to create a new building directly from the portal.
To Create a New Building
- Tap the + Add Building option
- Add the Building Details > click Save
- The asterisk* indicates a required field
- Click Save
- You will be redirected to the portal's building list
To View Building Details
- Starting on the Buildings tab
- Locate and tap on the building
- Use the search bar or scroll
- Here you can view details such as:
- Building name & address
- Associated deficiencies
- 📸 Photos (with timestamps and job references)
- As you complete jobs, the full history and records will remain available here.
📆 Calendar View
- Shows all scheduled jobs (inspections & work orders) and generic events.
- Filter options: Day, Week, Month.
- Drag‑and‑drop to reschedule (if your configuration permits).
🎨 Job Icons & Color Coding
Jobs are visually distinguished by type and status:
- 📋 Inspections - Represented with a Clipboard icon and change color based on status.
- 🛠 Work order - Represented by the Tools icons and are consistently purple.
- 🗓️ Generic Events - Represented by the following icons depending on the Generic Event type.
⏱️ Time Sheet
The Time Sheet tab in the Technician Portal allows technicians to log and track time for both job-related work and, if configured, track “Other” activities that are not tied to a specific inspection or work order.
Before technicians can log time, Time Entry Rates must be configured in the backend settings.
How to Log Time in the Technician Portal
Navigate to the Time Sheet tab.
Select the day you want to log time for.
Click + Add Entry.
Choose the assignment (Inspection or Work Order) you are logging time against.
If your account has Other time entry rates configured, you will also see an Other option for logging non-job-related time.
Enter your start and end times.
Select the appropriate Time Entry Rate.
(Optional) Add notes for additional detail.
Click Save.
All entries logged here will sync to the backend, where office administrators can review, and report on technician time.
📄 Job Details
To View Job Details:
- Tap on a Visit from the Calendar
- This will display a Details Panel
- You can also adjust the job date/time here (based on permissions).
- Select the Details option
- You will be redirected to the visit's detail screen
🔍 Visit Detail Screen – Technician Portal
The Visit Detail Screen in the Technician Portal provides a complete overview of the selected job—whether an inspection or work order. From this screen, technicians can view key visit details, review notes and photos, generate reports, and log time.
🗂 Detail Screen Tab Overview
At the top of the visit detail screen, you'll see three main tabs:
- Details - Main information about the visit including building and job information such as address and contacts, reports, and materials, services, and a field to log time.
- Activity - Notes or messages related to the visit. This field in the technician portal populates from the Tech Messages field in the app. This can be added in the app, in the tech portal or in the backend.
- Photos - All photos associated with the visit, including the ability to upload more.
📄 Details Tab
The Details tab is the primary view for understanding the visit at a glance.
🏢 Building & Job Information
Displays the core information for the job:
- WO# (Work Order number)
- Job Frequency
- Building name and address
- Assigned Technician
- Scheduled Date/Time
- Due Date
- Phone/contact details (if available)
➡️ You may be able to edit the scheduled date if permissions allow.
⚠️ Deficiencies
If any deficiencies were flagged during the inspection, they will appear here as:
- Pending – not yet addressed or resolved
- Resolved – marked as resolved after review
Technicians can resolve deficiencies here in the technician portal, as well as in the mobile app.
📑 Reports
Lists all reports generated for this visit. If your account as the auto-generate report function enabled, you will see reports listed here when an inspection is submitted.
- Technicians can generate reports in the technician portal by selecting the + Generate Report option
- A menu with different report types will appear, select the type of report you need to generate.
- Tap the share icon 🔗 to send a report
- Tap the trash icon 🗑 to delete a report
🧩 Additional Fields:
If permissions allowed, technicians can do the following in the technician portal
- Generate Invoices
- Add Materials & Services
- Add Attachments
- Log Time Entries
📈 Activity Tab
The Activity tab is a centralized log of messages related to the job.
- Tech Messages left by technicians in the field will appear here
- Backend users can also leave messages that techs will see here, as well as in the mobile app
- Messages are timestamped and attributed to the author
- Use the “✏️ Add Note” panel to leave additional notes
📷 Photos Tab
The Photos tab displays all images associated with the visit.
- Photos uploaded during the job are listed with:
- Thumbnail preview
- Description (if entered)
- Type (e.g., Inspection)
- Date/time taken
- Upload new photos by dragging and dropping files or selecting manually
- 📎 Accepted file types: JPG, PNG
- 📏 Max file size: 5MB
