Question: What is the AI Inspection Assistant?
Answer: Inspection Assistant is an AI-powered quality control tool that reviews inspections before they reach your office. It catches common issues like:
- Unanswered questions
- Missing photos or signatures
- Poor grammar or profanity
- Shorthand that needs expanding
- Notes that don't make sense for what's being inspected
The key benefit: Instead of office staff spending hours correcting reports, IA catches issues while the tech is still on-site, reducing back-and-forth by 60-80%.
Question: How do I turn it on for my team?
Answer: Once the Inspection Assistant has been enabled in your instance and is ready to activate
👉 How to Enable AI Inspection Assistant
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Before you begin, ensure all technicians are on app version 10.0 or higher. Inspection Assistant will not work on older versions.
Version Check: To verify app version, techs can go to Settings on the Inspect Point app on their device and check the version number at the bottom of the screen. If below 10.0, update via the App Store before enabling Inspection Assistant.
Question: Will this slow down my technicians?
Answer: No - and here's why:
- The inspection process stays exactly the same
- Inspection Assistant runs in the background while saving (asynchronous, they can close out while it runs)
- Average processing time: 2-2.5 minutes
- Techs can close the app and leave - it continues processing - they will get a card on their home screen when completed
- They can start fixing issues while the Inspection Assistant finds more (progressive loading)
Question: Does IA work on custom inspections?
Answer: Yes, the Inspection Assistant works on all custom questions and custom inspections across all asset types.
Question: What if there's no internet in the field?
Answer: If there is no internet in the field, the AI review runs when device reconnects and tech submits. During the inspection the Enhanced Notes button will not appear.
Question: Can a tech bypass the AI?
Answer: No, they must go through the AI review before sending to the office. However, technicians can ignore issues and send after the review. For accountability purposes, the office sees what was "skipped" vs "dismissed".
Question: What if the Inspect Point app on my technician’s device is below version 10.0?
Answer: The AI will not function properly on older versions. Technicians must update to the latest version in the App Store.
Question: Can I add our company's shorthand abbreviations?
Answer: Contact your CSM with abbreviations we're missing. If commonly used across the industry, we'll add them to the master library.
Question: Will the AI get faster?
Answer: Yes, we use the most powerful AI models available (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini). As these models improve, processing automatically gets faster. We've built the system to swap models as better ones are released.
Question: Can I see only certain issues?
Answer: Yes, there is a Show/Hide option on the review screen in the office. Filters include:
- Hide resolved issues to reduce clutter
- Show only dismissed or skipped items you need to review
- Default view shows only unresolved to keep focus
Question: What if I catch something the AI didn't?
Answer: Currently, backend users can use "Suggest Correction for All" OR add an overall inspection note explaining what needs fixing.
Coming Soon: We're adding the ability to manually add corrections to the AI workflow for a more integrated experience.
Question: Does every inspection show the Inspection Assistant tab?
Answer: The Inspection Assistant tab will appear on the Inspect Detail screen if:
- IA is enabled for that technician
- The technician has submitted through the AI review process
The tab will not appear on inspections completed before IA was enabled.
Question: Do I have to review every single AI issue?
Answer: You do not have to review every issue, however, it is best practice to review the following:
- Skipped items (tech took no action)
- Items you disagree with (tech dismissed but shouldn't have)
- Items marked as “High Impact”
During review, resolved items are hidden by default to save time.
Philosophy: Trust your techs' judgment on most things, but verify on critical items.
