🧰 Overview
The Multi-Tech feature lets you schedule multiple technicians to the same job — perfect for large inspections or when different specialties are needed.
For instance, if an annual inspection where both sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers need to be serviced on the same day, you can simply add a second visit instead of creating separate inspections.
🔧 Enabling the Feature
Enabling the Multi-Tech feature is done by a member of the Inspect Point team.
Once enabled:
-
Multiple technicians can be assigned to an inspection from the backend.
-
Technicians can also add additional technicians to an inspection in the field (this cannot be done for work orders).
-
There is an optional, secondary flag that hides the ability for technicians to add additional technicians from the field if desired.
⚠️ If you do not see the option to add multiple technicians, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
🔍 How Do I Know if Multi-Tech Is Enabled?
A quick way to check if Multi-Tech is enabled is from the Inspection Detail screen.
-
Open an inspection.
-
Scroll to the Visit section.
-
Click + New Visit.
-
In the Technician dropdown, see if all of your technicians appear.
If you can view and select from your full technician list, Multi-Tech is enabled.
If not, reach out to your Customer Success Manager to confirm whether the feature is active for your account.
📋 How Multi-Tech Inspections Work
When creating an inspection:
-
Create and save the inspection as usual.
-
From the Inspection Details screen, locate the Visit section.
-
Add additional visits and assign it to a secondary technician.
Once scheduled, all assigned technicians receive the same inspection on their iOS devices. For the inspection data to merge into one report, it is essential that all technicians are assigned to the same inspection.
-
The first technician assigned is considered the Lead Technician.
-
Any technicians added afterward are secondary technicians.
On the generated inspection report:
-
The corresponding technician's name appears in the inspection summary (if enabled) next to the items they inspected.
-
All technician signatures display.
⚠️ Important Notes on Syncing
At this time, inspection answers do not live-sync between technicians.
Each technician works from their own copy of the inspection on their device.
-
Answers, notes, and media (photos, deficiencies, etc.) are only combined once all technicians have submitted their work.
-
There is a live sync option for Alarm Systems and Special Hazard Systems, but that is controlled by a separate feature flag.
💬 Best Practices for Multi-Technic Inspections
Because answers do not sync in real-time, clear communication is key.
To avoid duplicate work or conflicting answers:
-
Use Visit Notes to outline responsibilities for each technician.
-
Example: “Trey – Sprinklers” / “Mike – Extinguishers.”
-
-
Even if roles seem obvious, leave notes to ensure all technicians are aligned.
-
Each technician should inspect only their assigned items and sections.
Once all technicians have submitted, the results are combined into one inspection report — including: Regardless of technicians completing inspections on different dates, the merging condition remains the same: all technicians must be assigned to the same inspection.
-
All answers
-
All signatures
-
All deficiencies, notes, and photos
📱 What Technicians See
All assigned technicians will see the same inspection on their iOS device, including all inspection items added when the inspection was created, scheduling details, and any shared building notes and technician instruction.
They’ll complete and submit their portion as usual. After submission, their results print onto a single inspection report. The merging process is unaffected by different completion timings, as long as all technicians are assigned to the same inspection.
