The FDNY Integration allows users to electronically submit fire extinguisher inspection data directly to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).
This is a compliance requirement for extinguisher inspections performed in New York City buildings.
🛠️ Setup Requirements
To enable the integration, your company must have an FDNY API Key configured and the FDNY Certificate of Fitness (COF) number for each applicable technician.
- You will obtain an API key directly from FDNY.
- Give that API key, along with each technician's name and Certificate of Fitness license number to your Inspect Point contact.
- Inspect Point will add this information to the your tenant configuration.
Once configured, FDNY-specific fields and submission controls will appear where applicable.
If the technician does not have a Certificate of Fitness on file, you will not be able to submit inspections to FDNY through your instance.
IMPORTANT: There is an annual charge for this integration, please contact your Customer Success Manager for details.
🔄 How It Works
✅ When the 'Submit to FDNY' button appears
The Submit to FDNY button appears on an inspection when all of the following conditions are met:
- The company has the FDNY Integration enabled.
- The inspection includes one or more fire extinguisher groups.
- At least one fire extinguisher on the inspection has inspection answers recorded.
- The inspection has not already been submitted to FDNY.
📤 Submitting an Inspection
- Open the Inspection Detail screen.
- Scroll to the FDNY Submission section.
- Click Submit [X] extinguisher(s) to FDNY.
The submission happens immediately (it is not processed in the background). The user will remain on the screen and wait for a confirmation response from FDNY.
📄 After Submission
After a successful submission, the inspection will display:
- Number of extinguishers submitted
- Date and time of submission
- FDNY Reference ID (for your records)
⚠️ Important:
- One submission per inspection: Cannot resubmit once successful
- What gets sent: Building info, technician's Certificate of Fitness number, and details for each inspected extinguisher (type, serial number, barcode, notes)
- If the FDNY Certificate of Fitness number is missing for the lead technician, you will not be able to submit.
🧯 Troubleshooting
