There are two ways for technicians to track time in Inspect Point: by using the clock-in/clock-out functionality on the iPad, or by manually entering time.
Clock-in/Clock-Out
Technicians will see a clock icon in the top blue bar of both inspections and work orders.
Clicking this icon opens the clock-in/clock-out modal. Technicians should select an activity (travel/work), a rate, optionally add a note, then press the green button to begin tracking time.
When technicians are done tracking time, they can click the clock icon in the Time Entry section of the inspection or work order to open, and stop the timer by clicking the red button.
If a technician is connected to the Internet, time entries will appear in the back-end office application in real-time, prior to the technician submitting back to the office.
Time Entry Reminders
Technicians have the option to enable/disable time entry reminders. If time entry reminders are on, technicians will receive a prompt to clock-in when they click “Inspect” or “Service," and will receive an iOS notification if they close the app while a timer is running.
Technicians can control this setting by clicking the ‘i’ icon the iPad, clicking “Settings,” and then enabling reminders in the “Time Entry Reminders” section.
Adding / Editing Manual Time Entries
If a technician forgets to start or stop their timer and wants to manually add, or edit, a time entry, they can do so in two ways:
Individual Inspection / Work Order
The technician can click into the individual inspection or work order, and scroll to the time entries section. There, they can tap into a time entry to make any changes.
They can press the “+” icon to manually add a time entry, or swipe left to delete.
Technician Portal
The Technician Portal allows technicians to view all time entries across all jobs, including the total number of hours worked, for a week.
Technicians MUST be online (data/WiFi) to use the technician portal.
Technicians can access the portal in two ways:
- By clicking the portal icon in the bottom blue bar of the iPad/iPhone:
2. By logging in with their existing credentials at https://technicians.inspectpoint.com/
Note, a technician can access the portal via this web link from ANY device – e.g., a laptop or personal cell phone – not just the iPad/iPhone they use to complete inspections/work orders.
Upon logging into the portal, technicians will see a time sheet for the current week, along with the total number of hours for that week and total number of hours for each day.
They can navigate through previous weeks by clicking the arrows to the left of the title for that week.
The technician can click into a day of the week and see a list of all time entries logged on that day.
A technician can also add a time entry from this page by clicking “Add Entry.”
Here, they can select the relevant job, enter a start and end time or total number of hours, select the rate/activity type, add a note, and save the time entry.
